USCIS Extends Employment Authorization Documents Under Temporary Protected Status Designations of El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan


On June 20, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced it is extending the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) issued to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries under the designations of El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan through March 9, 2025. USCIS will send Notice of Actions (Form I-797) to those individuals affected by the extension.Current TPS beneficiaries under one of those designations that have not yet re-registered for TPS under the most recent extension, must re-register during the current re-registration period for their designated country, utilizing Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status.The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) previously extended the re-registration periods for those individuals to submit TPS re-registration applications:El Salvador now runs through March 9, 2025;Honduras now runs through July 5, 2025;Nepal now runs through June 24, 2025;Nicaragua now runs through July 5, 2025; andSudan now runs through April 19, 2025.Important Notes: While awaiting the I-797 extension notices, we encourage TPS holders to print out the USCIS announcement to provide to their employers as proof of employment validity, especially those with EADs set to expire on June 30, 2024.Although the re-registration periods end on different dates, EADs are all extended through the same date: March 9, 2025.For further information regarding the registration process and specific information regarding each country, visit USCIS's TPS webpage.
